Mara Trilla’s work allows us to visit childhood, where we embody the present with the greatest purity. It portrays childhood from a millimeter approach. It takes us by the hand to sit at the table, to share the same games. We enter that space full of strange sounds and shapes where “those crazy little ones are incorporated”, as Serrat sang. Her images see us as witnesses of our visit.

Fue el acto exclusivo de maternar lo que despertó en mí esta mirada documental de la infancia. Desde ese momento comencé a fotografiar a mis hijos, tal como son, como juegan, sin inhibiciones, libres y salvajes, retratándolos en su cotidianidad.
En ese estar permanente con ellos, encontré un espacio para plasmar mi creatividad, mi modo de ver la crianza y visibilizar mi papel como madre. Con mi trabajo, intento dejar un registro de lo instantáneo y genuino de la infancia.

It was the act of motherness what woke up in me the sight of documenting childhood. Since that moment I started photographing my kids, just like they are, how they play without inhibitions, wild and free, photographing them in the day by day.
While being with them all the time I found a place to set my creativity, my way of perceiving raising a child, and to display my role as a mother. With my work, I try to leave a record of the instantaneous and genuine childhood.

Mara Trilla es madre, fotógrafa autodidacta, también diseñadora en comunicación visual. Actualmente vive con su pareja y sus tres hijos en un barrio alejado del centro de la ciudad de La Plata, Argentina. Su obra se concentra en sus hijos. Ha sido recomendada por Fotografaslatam, una reconocida comunidad de mujeres fotógrafas latinoamericanas emergentes, y destacada por varias comunidades de fotógrafos documentales de familias de su país e internacionales.

Mara Trilla is a mother, self-taught photographer, and visual communication designer. She lives with her partner and 3 kids in a neighborhood far away from downtown in the city of La Plata, Argentina. Her work revolves around her children. She has been mentioned by Fotografaslatam, a famous community of women photographers from Latinoamerica and featured by several communities of the family- documentary photographers from her country and worldwide.
